My Minn Kota Edge 45 Trolling Motor suddenly stopped, anyone can help?

I was on the lake trolling into heavy weeds, I didn't turn off the switch but it suddenly stopped. I tried to recharge the battery but still no response. Anyone know why?|||Most boats have a surge protector built into the electrical system. Resetting that normally fixes the problem. If not, it's time to use a multi-tester to find out if you have electricity to the unit. If so, it is possible you burned up the unit but I find that unlikely. If there is electricity to the unit, it's time to take the controls apart %26amp; see where the electricity stops. Obviously, where the electricity stops is where the problem is. FYI: trolling motors run on 12 or 24 volt DC current that is not dangerous to a healthy person unless they have a pacemaker. As it's broken now, go ahead %26amp; try to fix it 鈥?what do you have to lose?|||you killed it

update: Damn Yankee has a really good answer, buuuut...

Based on the limited amount of information, a conclusion was drawn.

As far as I know, the minn Kota edge 45 is sold WITHOUT a circuit breaker, something the asker probably would know about IF he installed this motor himself.

As far as I know, the Minn Kota Edge 45 has epoxy encapsulated electronics, so dinking around is of limited value.

Although it's true the risk of electrocution is minimal, its entirely unknown what the skill level is of the asker. These things aren't cheap, at least in my book, and if under warranty, should be returned to the place of purchase or, at the very least, contact Minn Kota., rather than take a chance at giving Minn kota an excuse to void a warranty. http://www.minnkotamotors.com/service/wa鈥?/a>

I boats has a minn kota forum if your motor is out of warranty and you come to a dead end

marginally educated sheet metal worker|||DamnYankee may probably be right but, might try a simple thing 1st and remove the prop seein' as how you were in some heavy weeds. I know that fishin' line can wrap around the props shaft and basically do the same thing%26lt;);-3
