Marine Battery? How to keep it dry?

i have a 14 foot boat, i have the minn kota motor already but how do i keep the battery dry? the battery boxes all seem to have the connections on the outside..so.. how can you expect a battery not to short circuit if the leads are on the OUTSIDE of the box??Marine Battery? How to keep it dry?
Battery Boxes come with lids that will protect them Leaving them open the connections will get wet like U said and cause electrolysis and will give U a small shock if U touch the positive connection if wet.Marine Battery? How to keep it dry?

they will be ok ........unless you sink, ......... a little water splashed on them wont hurt a thing
