How fast does a minn kota trolling motor go?

how fast will a minn kota trolling motor model 35 24 lb thrust trolling motor go on an 14' aluminum boat at full speed?|||Take your pick... It will do about 2 mph for 7 hours, or 7 mph for 2 hours.

I have 2 batteries and a Perko switch on my dinghy. This way, I can run one battery low, switch to the other, run it low, and then switch to both and have ample juice to make a short brisk run home.

That's why they call them "trolling" motors... they are not made fo speed. Almost any speed at all will drain your batteries so fast you will think you sprang a leak.

John|||My experience with using trolling motors as power for my 20ft steel life boat is that the best speed you can achieve in a displacement hull , is equal to the square root of the hull length ,in knots. I used many different combinations of motors . 24 volt and 36 volt systems . In the end I had nearly 200 lbs of thrust , and 12 batteries , and still was limited to 4 to 5 knots , with 3 hours of battery life .Motor heat was another problem. The motors would only run for 45 min at full power before the heat build up would cut them out. The motor builders make props with only one pitch , so changing to a course pitch for more power is not an option.Trolling motors being used as the prime power for a boat have limits , speed or time , choose one , both have severe limits|||What Capt John said is pretty much it, add the weight she is pushing then subtract.

Electrics or any Marine Motor is rated in Thrust. Change the pitch of the prop, more thrust, more power used. exponentially.

There is a sweet spot or calibration that can be reached. still wise to have three batteries, two in Cycle and one for when the others die.

5 knots or so is the speed. Could be more on plane, but those do not have enough thrust to actually plane the hull.

Could be less with three extra people a cooler and the extra battery.

But always have a spare battery if that is the only means of propulsion, and an oar.
