Would a minn kota 30lb thrust trolling motor do the job?

Would the above motor be able to propel effeciently a homeade craft constructed of 3-5 50gal barrels and a large sheet of ply wood? If not what would be an affordable alternative?|||An oar and a pole would be better. That motor is for pushing a designed hull at trolling speeds, 3-5mph.

Add the two batteries, no. get an oar and a pole.

I hope this is done in a lake, pond or some protected waters with no current. I would still suggest an oar. or two.

The batteries will weigh 60lbs, plus they cost alot and only run for a short time at full speed, that is why you will need two.

Get some oars and a pole.

Please wear a PFD and follow all state laws.|||Sure it would. Not fast, but whats the hurry? You might want to add a simple, fold-down sail made of a poly tarp and a couple of 2x4s. Sail down wind and motor back. My best Rube Goldberg boat was a shipping crate, and a weed wacker with a kitchen fan blade.
